UPHOLSTERY & FABRIC SELECTION
James has been working in the furniture industry since 1998. With a wealth of experience in the design and build of modern and traditional upholstery, coupled with his recent training and experience in cabinetry and renovation, James covers all aspects of upholstery and fabric selection – from domestic furniture to contract fit outs. It’s his experience and passion that means he exceeds expectations on every project he works on.
SEWING & PATTERN MAKING
Over the last 25 years, Anne has covered many roles within upholstery sewing. Having started her career training new machinists in the UK and Eastern European factories, she soon moved into product design and development, where she honed her skills in template and pattern making. As one of the founding members of Manthorpe Furniture, her passion and expertise continues to help the business flourish. When Anne’s not busy in the Manthorpe workshop, she enjoys going to the gym, watching films and spending time with her grandchildren.
UPHOLSTERY & FURNITURE RESTORATION
Hi I’m jack, I’m 17 years old and I’ve been doing an upholstery apprenticeship for the past year and a half. I’ve learnt many skills since I’ve worked here, ranging from skills such as modern upholstery to traditional upholstery. Over my time at manthorpe furniture I’ve also learnt how to do more complex jobs, such as full re-builds on furniture, as well as deep buttoning chaises and chairs. Adding to this, I’ve also learnt how to re-stain furniture, including the process of taking the old finish off the piece and then putting new stain on it.
SEWING & CUTTING
Chris is our resident sewer and cutter. With over 40 years’ experience as an upholstery machinist, she’s an expert in a broad range of sewing techniques, ensuring the finished product is just right for each and every one of our customers. In her spare time, she tries to spend as much time as she can with her beautiful granddaughter or walking her dog Meg.
Charlotte is the newest member of the Manthorpe team. She’s been upholstering and refurbishing furniture since 2015, after wanting to find a piece of herself again once her second child was born. Outside of work, you’ll find her being a mum, training for some sort of distance running or walking challenge, or taking part in activities with her local Women’s Institute group.
FABRIC SELECTOR & MARKETING
Amy is one of the newest members of the Manthorpe Team. Although this is her first time working in the furniture industry, she’s worked in various roles throughout the years – the most recently being painting and decorating, allowing her to bring her love of colour and interiors to the fabric side of things at Manthorpe Furniture.
Outside of work, Amy’s a bit of a foodie. She also enjoys interior design and keeping fit, which walking her dogs helps with.
Margaret has been with Manthorpe Furniture for three years. With over 35 years experience in the purchasing side of the furniture industry and after having travelled all over the UK and Europe sourcing and expediting fabrics, she now works on the accounts team at Manthorpe.
When she’s not busy working with finances, she enjoys going to the gym, gardening, reading and knitting.
